Fred Ebb

Fred Ebb was born on the 8th of April 1928 and he was born in New York, NY. Ebb was mainly know as a lyricist. He was know has a lyricist between the years 1956 and 2004. Ebbs family had no interest in musical theatre so it was down to him to pursue his own career in it. He graduated from New York University with a bachelors degree in English Literature.

His style-

Fred Ebb was well known for his collaboration with John Kander who was a composer. These two who collaborate together was known as "Kander&Ebb".
They are one of the longest running and most successful creative partnership in Broadway history. They are known for there bold and brassy style. The musicals which included this style was Chicago and Cabaret. The songs that the both collaborated on was "My Colouring Book" and "I Don't Care Much" which were both later recorded by Barbra Streisand. Ebb and Kander received many Tony Awards for all of their different work which they had achieved.

Chicago-

Chicago is now in its 20th year of being on Broadway and in 1977 it won six Tony awards including best musical revival. Chicago was first premiered in 1975 at the 46th street theatre. Bob Fosse choreographed the first production of the musical with his unique style. Chicago was then premiered in West End in 1979. It is the second longest running show in Broadway history. The musical is based on a criminal and crime structure. Chicago is based on a real life 1924 Windy City murder case. When the musical first came out people were saying that it wasn't as good as Ebbs other production Cabaret but in time people loved it and it became hugely popular.Image result for chicago musical
