Wilkommen evaluation

Not watching it back-

Personally, I am quite happy with my overall performance. In the week I didn't even want to perform it in front of people so I was so happy that I found a bit of confidence so that I could perform it in front of a little audience. I feel as though my projection in my singing was really good and I was able to hold all of the notes, especially the last one,

Although, I feel as though I could have been a bit more like my character and used acting more in it instead of just singing and dancing. I think because I was so nervous I just wanted to get it done quickly and I didn't think about characteristics. I also missed out a little bit of the dance, which annoyed my so much because dance is my strongest out of the three! I was happy that I was able to pick it up against quickly and didn't act like I messed up. I also feel as though I could interacted more with the audience but again this was down to confidence.

Watching it back-

Self evaluation-

From watching my performance back, i think that my overall performance was okay. I think that i had remembered all of the lyrics well as i did not forget any of them.  Also, i was in tune for all of the performance whilst i was singing and i think that i held that last note really well as it was a long note. I also think that i had good projection as i feel as though all the audience could hear me. Furthermore, i think that i had good hand gestures and body movement throughout, I remembered all of the dance well and i think i performed it well even though i didn't like some of the dance moves i kept practising them so i got better at them. My interaction with the cabaret girls was limited but i think that when i did interact with them it was good.

Personally, i was annoyed with myself when i forgot a tiny section of the dance but i picked it up quickly which was good. Also, i think that i should have interacted more with the audience but i know i didn't because i did not have the confidence to go out to them and talk to them.  Also, when i was doing the speaking parts i always finished early which meant i was speaking fast so i needed to slow down whilst i was talking.Furthermore, i think i could have been more like my character and been more creepy. Overall, i feel as though i needed more confidence with this performance but i did loose a lot of my confidence with this piece because it was out of my comfort zone.

Peer evaluation-

I got my peer feedback from my e-BUDDY, Nikola. She said that i had a good use of voice with a slight accent which was portraying my character and i also remembered all of my words which was really good. She also said that i had good and smooth movements of hands and it was seductive and elegant. She said that i was in time with the music and i remembered the choreography. Nikola also said that i had a good use of dynamics, she gave an example of when we was whispering i had good body language in order to emphasise it.

To improve, Nikola said that i need to have contact with the audience and interact with them to show that i have more confidence and not show that i am nervous. She also said that i need to use more facial expressions and make my movements a bit bigger.

Teacher review of skills

Liz gave me some really good feedback which I know I need to do within my piece. My first piece of constructive criticism is that I need to have more confidence in what I am doing and not worry about it. My second piece of constructive criticism was that I need to keep a straight face but without seeming bland and bored, I know that I find it hard to keep a straight face throughout performances so I need to work on this. My last piece of constructive criticism is that I need to balance out my charceter more and become more like my character. At the minute I think that I am just singing the song so I need to make sure I am like my character.

Wilkommen- Self and peer assessment

I feel that my skills are beginning to increase and i am starting to get stronger in certain areas. I feel as though the more i rehearse and go over the song the more i am getting better at it and the more confidence i am getting. I do not feel confident with this song at all so i feel as though i need to put extra effort in to make sure i am doing the best that i can. My peer has given me positive criticism which i know i need to work on. She said that i had a good projection and i am good at looking up and holding the notes. She also said that i knew the dance well but obviously we need to finish it off so that the whole dance is learnt. She said that i need to be more like the character that i am trying portray and be more confident within myself and not be nervous about doing it. The last thing she said as just to keep practicing and make sure i know it off by heart.

Overall Musical Theatre Skills Evaluation

Personally, i think i have improved my skills in some areas. For example, i think that i have been able to adapt to a character better than i used to as i use to find it difficult but because we went over the character a lot and watched several different clips i found it was slightly easier to portray my character. Within music, i feel as though i have more of a range within singing now as we worked on having a bigger range during warm up which i believe helped me a lot. Also, i feel as though i am able to sing better harmonies now and am able to block out somebody else who is singing a different part to me. In dance, i think that i have become more aware of my space (spacial awareness) and i think that i have learnt to interact with other people now during my performance.

There is Nothing Like a Dame Evaluation

Evaluation

Before watching it-

Throughout our performance of "There is Nothing Like a Dame" I felt like I had good eye contact with the other people who was on the stage, such as Sarah who I made eye contact with quite a lot. I think that I could have made more eye contact with the audience so that they would feel more connected with the piece. I feel like I could look more fed up and have portrayed more emotions so it would make the number better. I feel like the whole group learnt the words well and we picked them up quite fast which meant we could focus on our actions and dance. Personally, I feel like my three positions at the beginning are good because there is lots of variations in the height as I start high and finish sitting on the floor, I feel as though they are all manly positions and this is the past I found hardest as I found it hard to play a man character. Finally, I feel like I could have bigger gestures and interact more with different people.

After watching it-

Self evaluation

After watching our performance of "There is Nothing Like a Dame" i feel like i had good interaction with the other characters that were on stage. Also, i feel as though i had good projection throughout the song and when i sang my solo line i feel as though it could be heard easily. I still feel as though i could have look more at the audience because i did not much which would make them feel as though they aren't as involved as they could be. I think that the whole group worked well together and we all had our own individual characters which will all portrayed really well. I also feel as though i was in time with the music through out and the little dance moves which we had to do,i feel as though i done them well and quite strongly. Furthermore, i think that i played a man role okay but i could have been more like my character and had stronger moves. Finally, whilst i was watching my performance i feel like i could have had bigger gestures and i could have made my walks stronger and my arm movements bigger and stronger.

Peer Evaluation

My peer, Nikola, gave me my feedback back. After watching it she said that overall my performance was really good and i looked confident throughout my performance. She said that i sang my solo line really well and i was in tune the whole time. Also, she said that the whole performances singing was in tune and the harmonies sounded good which means my harmonies and everyone else's was correct as we all sounded in tune with each other.

There is Nothing Like a Dame

Research

Facial Expression/ Eye Contact

When we watched "There is nothing like a dame" in class and also when I re-watched it at home, I think that the eye contact between all the men in the number was really good as they was all interacting with each other and looking at each other. They also all looked fed up and they looked desperate that they really wanted a women back in there like. When the soloist was singing, the rest of the chorus was looking at them so they looked interest and wanted to know what they was saying.

Volume, Pitch, Tone of Voice and Accent

Again, when I watched this I thought that they all had a good volume and you could hear what they was saying well and clearly. They also all had American accents as they was in an American musical. Whilst they were singing, they all sounded angry and had aggression in their voice which made the number more effective. They also had low voices and they had a couple of harmony's in it.

Posture and Gait

In the number, they all had crossed arms which suggested they was annoyed or angry. Also, whilst they were singing they had actions for the words which they were singing so everything linked together.

Gesture and Physical Contact

All the men throughout the number had close contact and they all had really good interaction with each other and was acting of one another. Also, they all put there arm round each other which showed they were all close. Also, when the women ran past all the men stopped and stared at them and they all did it which made it look effective.
